Hey, remember back in May when the Supreme Court majority told women who experienced employment discrimination to suck it up? And then Ruth Bader-Ginsburg called on Congress to change the law? Well, the House listened, and it has passed such remedial legislation 225-199, which would treat each successive paycheck as a fresh new [...]

I’ve been putting off writing about SiCKO because there are so many things I want to say about it, and I ought to keep it short but I don’t know where to start. This means I may be flogging this topic sporadically for the next several years. Which happens anyway, since some of the [...]

This is what we had for dinner Saturday night, plus some excellent cole slaw (recipe here). If that doesn’t say summer, I don’t know what does. Sunday morning I whipped up some blueberry muffins and chicken salad, and we packed up our tote bag and headed again to the beach. It was [...]

It was really good to me for a couple of years, and then the bobbin seized up. And then Mom and Dad got me a new one. And now I have an extra sewing machine I’m not likely to ever use again. What to do? Craigslist? Doesn’t [...]

That’s a phonetic approximation of my current mental state. My list was not so cross-off-able yesterday. I wrote 3 paragraphs again, but ended up having to totally ditch one after I went back to a book for clarification on one law, and discovered I had it all wrong. Disheartening to say the [...]
There’s a first time for everything…

For the very first time today, I made an actual phone call to an actual elected representative about an issue important to me (the SCHIP reauthorization). I may have had to spell my name five times in a row for them to get it down, but I did it. I feel so democratic!
