1. After being ever so patient between GRE-taking and applying and waiting and meeting and waiting some more, Zee finds that she’s been given her pick between two PhD programs. Here’s to becoming a doctor of peace!
2. After (mmph mmph) years of diligent reading, writing, and teaching, SO’B defends his dissertation today! Unfortunately, I will be in a lunch with Renowned Visiting Scholar and will miss the defense, but we send him no end of good wishes for a kick-ass defense!
3. The weather this weekend was unbelievable. I minded the thermometer (which said high 40s) and set out for my run yesterday with a long-sleeve top layer, and had to peel it off a half mile later. And then I proceeded to sweat my guts out for the remaining 4.8 miles (and got a touch of sunburn on one arm!). I had to stop and re-lace my shoe, which was giving me a righteous blister in my arch again, which put me at 61 minutes, 1 minute over last week’s time. I can’t fathom doing 6.2 in under an hour, but maybe a miracle will happen.
4. Spouse ran the 5.3 route for the first time yesterday (faster than me, no surprise), and the two of us spent the late afternoon dreading the stairs and groaning with each step up and down. Maybe it’s time for a chair lift.
5. I primed the trim and finished the walls in the back bathroom, finally. While doing the latter, I shattered the globe on the light fixture in spectacular style, and with my head, no less. I’m choosing to believe tiny shards of glass are as good as a deep conditioner for one’s hair, in order to get this particular bit of info to fall within the good news theme.
Gotta get some work done before the aforementioned lunch…
Thanks for the shouts-out! I’m off to watch my husband become a doctor
Globe shattering should be done with mallets, not heads darling. Props to you on your excellent run. You’re really flying now.
Oh, aren’t you sweet. It feels much less like flying and more like crawling, but one day I’ll get to where I can actually call what I do “running” and not feel like I’m lying my butt off.
