But when you’ve spent two days with a baby lodged firmly in your pelvis, constricting all your movement, causing you an inordinate amount of discomfort, and keeping you from sleeping, it is an incredible relief to wake up and feel it moving around up by your belly button again.  Sweet, sweet relief.

After a few quiet days, the baby has decided never to sleep again.  At least, if s/he is sleeping, I don’t know when it’s happening.  The thought of having a little Spouse-type whirlwind sleeper is enough to give me pause; on the other hand, it makes the whole co-sleeping decision a great deal easier.
Anyway, [...]

I can’t stop laughing at this.

So I must share.
The Youtube doesn’t seem to be working, and I can’t embed the flash video, so go here and watch it.  Then watch it again.

Must…not…complain…

We had another few inches of snow this morning on top of the snow that hasn’t melted from the last couple feet or so.  But!! I was able to knock off the giant blocks of ice that had gathered on the edges of our front steps, so now the mailman has less chance of putting [...]

See? See?

An article in this morning’s NY Times neatly encapsulates why I work on history of medicine.  The headline: “The Epidemic That Wasn’t.”

Oversight identified

I am one good psychic.  Either that, or I’m a pretty good judge of my own capacity for overlooking important details.  A moment ago, I happened to notice some frost on the inside of the guest/baby room window.  Knowing this to be a good sign that someone (ahem) had forgotten to put the storm window [...]

This just in: the internet is full of all kinds of uselessness.
Since Tuesday, the beginning lines of Rev. Lowery’s benediction
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, thou, who has brought us thus far along the way, thou, who has by thy might led us into the light, keep us forever in the [...]

23 weeks

It occurred to me that I hadn’t updated you on the progress of my belly, and since that awesome belly rash has almost completely faded, I felt okay about getting out the camera again.

These tights/leggings, by the way, are my new favorite at-home pants (along with my giant pajama pants).  They sit up over my [...]
