Today Nuala donated her chunky thighs to the cause of public health (and her own). I’ve heard horror stories about babies and shots–the tears, the screaming, turning into a fussy nightmare for a few days, fevers, etc–but so far so good here.
First up was the rotavirus vaccination, which is goo in a tube given orally. [...]

I guess that’s restful

When choosing a pasta that must be eaten when one is wearing a baby strapped to his or her chest, keep in mind that tubular pastas such as penne or rigatoni slip more firmly onto the tines of a fork than long pastas like spaghetti or linguine, or flat pasta shapes like farfalle. Your child [...]

I made a study this week:
With a good night’s sleep behind me, 18 minutes into a run is the point at which I feel like I might be able to continue running all day.
With an awful night’s sleep behind me (someone took a monster nap from 7 to 9pm, then decided to wake every two [...]

Dear Nuala,
It’s been two months since you were born, which seems like forever ago or yesterday, depending on the day. Last night was the first night I’ve slept in our bed with my husband and without the baby since she was born. For the past week or so, we’ve been making the transition from all three of us in our bed, to just me and her and [...]

This is why satirical baby-advice website Let’s Panic! is a brilliant idea.
Put your baby down for at least four naps a day! Don’t let your baby take more than three naps a day! Don’t let your baby sleep longer than an hour! If your baby sleeps shorter than an hour and a half between 11am [...]

Treadmill (best purchase ever) + Bouncy seat (best baby gift ever) + cheap box fan = 1 sweaty, happy mama.
Note: the above holds true if and only if you have the Best Baby Ever, or at least one who’s willing to nap while you’re on the treadmill and be awake but groggy enough to wait [...]
